Supportive Employment

Conard House clients want and need the structure provided by work but often require help in preparing for and dealing with employment.

We offer a well-thought-out path to employment, ranging from volunteer, to part- and full-time employment opportunities. The holistic program includes vocational assessment, counseling, job placement and job retention services. Conard House often employs residents as desk clerks, janitorial staff and messengers. Many of these clients eventually "graduate" to employment in the larger community.

A Client's Perspective

"Desk clerk work is a good position to have because you're the first one to greet the residents. You open the doors for the residents. You take notes for anyone who calls or drops by and the client resident is not home. You answer the phone, check the mail. It’s a way to be employed and have some meaning in your life. You're helping someone as well as helping yourself."
